It is reported that Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York will be leading the opening prayer at the second inauguration of Donald Trump, on January 20, 2025.
Cardinal Dolan will be doing the work of the Lord, following in the footsteps of Jesus, and confirming that the Ten Commandments and The Beatitudes are certainly not a requirement for the leaders of Catholic Church when they choose who to honor, support, elevate, and praise.
What appears to be a preview of this prayer, (or more likely a parody and satire of the prayer), has been circulated:
Lord, please bless this unrepentant rapist felon adulterer, who the Church unapologetically chooses to hold up as an example of faith.
Confer your blessing on this serial liar, con man, fraud, as he deports immigrants, persecutes non-Christians, and mocks the just.
Let this ceaseless transgressor set an example for all Christians, as he doles out favor to the wealthy while reveling in the suffering of the poor, as Jesus did not command, though now he would apparently have wanted.
Rain down Your Heavenly favor on this reprobate, as he threatens those who seek justice, fairness, and peace.
Give him strength, Dear Lord,as he harasses the woke and maltreats the communities of the LGBTQ+, the Minorities, and the Natives of this land, for they are not to receive the full rights of the country nor the unconditional love of the Lord.
And citizens, rejoice at his work, as he and his associates profit from you and relieve you of your wages, thus bringing you closer to God. For as it is said in Hebrews, "Keep your life free from love of money."
And bless him with the light of the sun each Sabbath, as he fairly and justly guides his ball to the hole, for as Timothy said, "an athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules."
